Communities of Wellbeing thanks Maroondah City Council for supporting family and community relationships

In the heart of Maroondah, a remarkable event unfolded at Eastland, igniting conversations and strengthening bonds within hundreds of families. The Language of Friendship event, a cornerstone partnership initiative by Communities of Wellbeing, drew an impressive gathering of 700 families, fostering meaningful interactions and earning the accolade of Maroondah’s Event of the Year. Such a feat was made possible through the innovative use of “Ask and Pass” cards, which each family received, thanks to the generous support of Eastland. These cards, featuring questions designed to spark personal and engaging conversations, were a standout success.

Building on this triumph, Communities of Wellbeing is excited to announce the receipt of a $3,000 grant from Maroondah City Council. This generous funding has been instrumental in continuing the promotion of UR Strong’s Friendology program, which is pivotal in nurturing the fabric of our community’s relationships.

The success at Eastland demonstrated a clear demand for tools that facilitate deeper connections within families, and extend to sporting teams, workplaces, and classrooms. With questions like “What is your favourite holiday destination?” and “Who do you admire most?”, the “Ask and Pass” cards are more than just conversation starters—they are bridges to understanding and appreciation among loved ones and peers.

We are immensely grateful to Maroondah City Council for their belief in the power of community and their commitment to fostering an environment where relationships can flourish. This grant will enable us to produce additional materials that will further our mission to strengthen the ties that bind our community together.

As we continue this journey, we are reminded of the strength that lies in unity and the profound impact of simple conversations. Thank you, Maroondah City Council, for your support and for standing with Communities of Wellbeing as we work to create a more connected and resilient community. Here’s to more conversations, deeper understandings, and a stronger Maroondah.
